How to know if your carpet is wool or synthetic
It’s important to know whether your carpet is wool or synthetic when it comes to carpet cleaning.
The best way to work this out is to:
-
Gently tease a small amount of the material out of the carpet.
-
Then hold the material with some tweezers or something similar and set light to it (being careful not to burn yourself or set fire to anything else in the process)
-
Blow it out after a couple of seconds setting light to it
-
After you have left it for a minute or two, you will notice if it has either crumbled or turned into a hard lump.
If it crumbles and turns to ash this means the carpet is made from wool. If it turns into a hard lump like it's melted, this means it is a synthetic carpet.
